Rapid prototyping was used to create scaled plastic models from digital files describing the surfaces of the polio virus capsid (2.2A resolution), the capsid+receptor 'particle' (10A resolution), and the capsid+membrane complex (10A resolution), using experimental structural descriptors from the laboratory of Prof. James Hogle, Harvard University School of Medicine.
